The Northwest Explorer is a Pacific Northwest Regional Collaboratory effort designed
to assist planning and policymaking decision-makers in promoting the long-term viability
of natural resources in the Pacific Northwest. Project partners work together
to deliver remotely-sensed and other spatial datasets to researchers and decision
makers. More importantly, the Explorer focuses on the development of web applications
and web services to extract meaningful information from available data and deliver
the information to those who can use it towards promoting the sustainability
of land, water and other resources in the Pacific Northwest.
The Northwest Explorer categorizes participating projects into eight themes which
can be accessed form the main menu. Promoting sustainability is complex as efforts
to preserve one resource usually affect one or more other resources. Therefore,
it is no surprise that the eight themes have some overlap, and a project may be
found in more than one category. Projects may also be accessed directly from the
Northwest Explorer home page or from one of the Exploration Tools in the left menu.
The Northwest Explorer welcomes new project partners in the Northwest Explorer effort.
If you have a land or water resource related Pacific Northwest project and are interested
in making the data and or results available through the Explorer, please check out
the Developer Support page and/or contact us using the Feedback page.
